The Verve coffee grinder, motivated from ‘deus ex machina’ (literally ‘god from the machine’).

Designed to be hand held, fast and efficient, ‘Verve’ is a coffee grinder with a difference. The innovative planetary gearbox and the mechanisms are at the heart of the machine, reducing grinding time by two thirds and creating a wonderful aesthetic experience.

For every rotation of the handle the conical grinding teeth rotate three times, making for a time efficient user experience.

Coffee beans are poured through the gearbox into a grinder receptacle below, these are then ground by the conical burr grinding teeth. The grind coarseness is fully adjustable ‘on the fly’ with the handle-mounted adjustment knob. So there is no need to turn the grinder over, simply grind and adjust to suit your tastes.

The subtle twist of the body while grinding and its sculptural qualities encourages tactile interaction with the ‘Verve’ grinder.

Inspired by the ritual of coffee making, this savvy object draws on the technological innovations of ocean racing yachts and the designer’s experiences with bicycles, contemporary motorbikes and biomorphic architecture.

The ‘Verve’ coffee grinder is designed to replace electric powered grinders for home use, reducing energy consumption.

The grinder has been produced in high precision recycled aluminium and brass. Each grinder is hand built using high precision industrial stainless
steel roller bearings.

The Verve is available as a numbered limited edition.
